Number Two: PJ Williams

PJ Williams is not a new name for New Orleans Saints fans, but it is a name that fans likely aren’t expecting to pop up on a list ranking players that could have a big impact.

Williams, 27, is currently the number three cornerback on the Saints’ depth chart and will surely stay there, but his strong offseason work is making him turn heads and compete for additional playing time.

More from Who Dat Dish

Williams’ name is one of the select few that are being brought up almost daily when reporters are asked about their thoughts from training camp that day.

Williams is making his case to see more time on the football field this season due to the fact that he is having a very strong training camp. His ability to play both cornerback and free safety gives him an advantage as well.

Williams is entering his fifth season with the Saints and is looking to add on to the solid numbers he already has as a member of the team.

In 47 career games, Williams has recorded 151 tackles, six tackles for a loss, three quarterback hits, two sacks, two forced fumbles, 24 passes defended, four interceptions, and one defensive touchdown.

Due to the fact that the Saints don’t run a traditional 4:3:4 defense or 3:4:4 defense, the likelihood of Williams seeing extended action is better in 2020.
