New Orleans Saints’ superstar wide receiver Michael Thomas took to Twitter to tell the team to sign free agent defensive end Jadeveon Clowney.

With the release of guard Larry Warford, the New Orleans Saints freed up enough money to continue to pursue free agents.

While they may opt to use that money for extending their star players already on the roster, the market does have a few players that could make the Saints championship favorites heading into 2020.

A few such players that are among the biggest names still unsigned are Seahawks’ Jadeveon Clowny and Vikings’ Everson Griffen. Both are edge rushers that are coming off average years by their standards.

However, given Marcus Davenport‘s injury concerns across from Cam Jordan, the Saints could bring in a player that’ll slide him to the second unit. Let’s just say Michael Thomas is all for adding the former of the two aforementioned stars.

Thomas is a superstar. While his pull on who the organization signs may not be too strong, his impact on the franchise’s long-term future is.

After signing a nine-figure deal last offseason, Thomas went out and became the league’s Offensive Player of the Year, the first non-quarterback/running back to win the award since Jerry Rice back in 1987.

As for Clowney, a one-year deal makes a ton of sense for both sides. He needs a place to prove he belongs, and the Saints need a player that’ll consistently show up and not be injured. Even better, having the security blanket of Marcus Davenport would be a huge help for Dennis Allen’s defense.

After recorded two straight seasons with nine or more sacks, Clowney, who started 11 games with Seattle, took the quarterback down just three times. He hasn’t been enough of a hot commodity that a team is wanting to give almost eight figures to get.

Clowney and teams seemingly can’t agree on a right figure.

That said, maybe for Michael Thomas’ sake, Clowney will drop his target salary to join the Saints, a team that should be the NFC’s favorite to appear in the Super Bowl. Clowney to the Saints is a win-win.
