Larry Warford’s release came as no surprise to most Saints’ fans.

While some may have been keeping their fingers crossed for a trade, the move was officially announced on Saturday. The Saints have released three-time Pro Bowl guard Larry Warford.

Though Warford performed admirably during his tenure protecting Drew Brees, his departure is likely for the best. His release clears up $8 million in cap space, money desperately needed as the team prepares to negotiate with Marshon Lattimore, Ryan Ramczyk, and Alvin Kamara.

Letting Warford go also clears the way for the Saint’s offensive line to become younger and stronger. Second-year stud Erik McCoy could easily make the shift to guard, and first-round draft pick Caesar Ruiz has the confidence of Sean Payton (which is all anyone really needs).

There should be no hard feelings between either party; in his three years with the Saints, the 29-year-old Warford made three Pro Bowls and was highly effective defending the pass rush.

In order to send him off right, let’s have a look at three NFC teams that could immediately benefit from the presence of the now-former Saint.
