Round Three: #88 Overall

The New Orleans do not have a second-round pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, so in the third round, I have them selecting Notre Dame wide receiver Chase Claypool. Claypool, a physical 6-foot-4 receiver, brings a lot of versatility to an offense.

Chase Claypool worked out as both a wide receiver and tight end at the 2020 NFL Scouting Combine and performed very well.

Claypool ran a 4.42 forty yard dash, banged out 19 bench press reps, leaped 40.5 inches in the vertical jump, and had a 126-inch broad jump. Claypool attended the combine following a successful college career where he logged 150 receptions, 2,159 receiving yards, and 19 touchdowns.

The Saints recently acquired wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders and need to find young talent at the wide receiver position to team up with Michael Thomas and Sanders. Clearly Tre’Quan Smith isn’t getting the job done.

Chase Claypool would be able to develop quickly, and learn under Jared Cook, Drew Brees, Emmanuel Sanders, and Sean Payton.
