New Orleans Saints 2016 NFL Draft Profile: Jalen Ramsey
By Jake White
While Jalen Ramsey will likely only be available to the New Orleans Saints with a trade up in the upcoming NFL Draft, we profile him anyway and suggest how he may fit in with the Black and Gold.
The NFL Draft is getting closer and closer and teams like the New Orleans Saints are getting their draft boards together as we speak. One of the most talented players who will be at the top of most draft boards is Florida State defensive back Jalen Ramsey. We continue our draft profiles with the FSU stud.

Analysis:
Jalen Ramsey could be considered not only the best cornerback in the draft, but also the best safety. He possesses great coverage and blitzing skills and is one of the top playmakers in this year’s rookie class. His athletic ability sets him apart from most secondary players in this draft other than Vernon Hargreaves III.
All that athleticism is good, but his intelligence and being able to diagnosis plays doesn’t go unnoticed. All these attributes combined is the reason most expect him to go in the top-five of the draft, and even possibly top-three.
Watch Jalen Ramsey shut down opponents, pressure the quarterback, and make key tackles versus NC State:

How he fits with the Saints:
If the Saints were to somehow get Jalen Ramsey, he would fit in perfectly. The fans would be extremely happy if this happened, but nobody would be as excited as defensive coordinator Dennis Allen.
If he was to have Ramsey to roam around the secondary making plays and shutting wide receivers down, it would make his job a lot easier. Ramsey is extremely versatile and can play outside corner, slot, or safety. He would add depth and bring an abundance of talent to New Orleans’ secondary.
The problem is that there is almost no chance Jalen Ramsey falls out of the top five, which would mean the Saints would have to give up a lot to move up in the order and snag him. All the needs New Orleans has at pass rusher, defensive tackle, weakside linebacker, and guard make it difficult to give up other draft picks. So while it would be nice to draft Ramsey, it isn’t very plausible to think that he will be available.
