NFL Draft 2015: Saints select LB Davis Tull with the 148th pick

facebooktwitterreddit

The New Orleans Saints have made their first of two selections in the fifth round of the 2015 NFL Draft, taking Tennessee-Chattanooga outside linebacker Davis Tull.

Sean Payton and company continue to bolster up their defense with what I believe to be a solid pick on day three for the Who Dat Nation.

So what does Davis Tull bring to the New Orleans Saints?

Hard work pays off for sure, and Tull has displayed that well as a four-year starter and three-time Southern Conference Defensive Player of the Year. He excelled at both the run and pass rush as a senior, displaying outstanding strength, great hand usage, excellent pursuit, speed and explosiveness off the snap.  I see him as a great value pick for the Saints who could have easily gone to another team on day two.

From GoMocs.com:

Davis Tull adds good value to the New Orleans Saints linebacking corps.  He is a guy who could come in and compete for playing time on day one.  The Black and Gold were a severe disappointment a season ago, so adding Hull is a smart move.  New Orleans added Fresno State defensive tackle Tyeler Davison to close at their fifth round.

Saints picks though five rounds:

1 (13): Andrus Peat, OT, Stanford
1 (31): Stephone Anthony, ILB, Clemson
2 (44): Hau’oli Kikaha, OLB, Washington
3 (75): Garrett Grayson, QB, Colorado State
3 (78): P.J. Williams, CB, Florida State
5 (148): Davis Tull, OLB, Tennessee-Chattanooga
5 (154): Tyeley Davison, DT, Fresno State
