The New Orleans Saints lost yet another running back to injury but quickly found their footing, trading for San Francisco 49ers running back Zamir White. A player whose tape shows some spunk, his latest comments could be the key to the newly-acquired running back making the initial 53-man roster.
Following his first practice as a Saint, White backed up Kellen Moore's remarks about his familiarity with the system. "Just more like downhill physical style ball, ground ball, shoot, just hard-nosed football for real," he said to the media. "And I love that part of it."
It's a good thing that he already has an idea of what to do in Moore's offense, because the Saints kick off their regular season in a little over two weeks. The installation period has long past, and the team doesn't have time to teach a player everything back from square one. However, just because White doesn't have to start from the beginning doesn't mean that he is guaranteed to get significant snaps when the regular season rolls around.

Despite having been in similar offenses in the past, it's doubtful that Zamir White could get a ton of playing time during the regular season. In fact, there's still a chance that he could miss the final roster entirely.
The team still has yet to indicate whether or not Alvin Kamara could be placed on IR or the PUP list, which would free up an additional roster spot. If they don't place Kamara on either of those lists, then he'll have to be carried on the 53-man roster. Same case with second-year man Devin Neal, who injured his hamstring during the last preseason game.
All of that combined with the fact that New Orleans won't carry six running backs into September, White's chances of repping the Who Dat Nation are honestly slim. However, he still has time to make his case known over the last bit of training camp. Neither Kamara nor Neal have practiced since their respective injuries, freeing up time for White to catch up with the rest of the pack.
The rest of the pack being Travis Eteinne, Kendre Miller, and recently returned Audric Estime. If White can stand out among those four in practice throughout the week and during the preseason game against the Cowboys, then his story might start to change a bit.
