Updated Saints injury report for Week 9 has fans concerned again
The New Orleans Saints are expected to get quarterback Derek Carr back in the lineup, after an oblique injury sidelined him for the last three games. However, even with his return, the injury report is still a concerning mess for New Orleans.
On Wednesday, the Saints released the first injury report for Week 9, and it was already lengthy with 14 players. Now, a day later, the updated injury report is even longer and more concerning.
Saints injury report for Week 9

Cedrick Wilson Jr. (WR) | Hip | Did not practice | Limited practice |

John Ridgeway (DT) | Oblique | Did not practice |
Defensive tackle John Ridgeway was the player added, and a few players also had positive developments— most notably, Tyrann Mathieu, who returned to practice after an illness sidelined him on Wednesday.
However, the biggest storyline is that Marshon Lattimore still isn’t practicing, and Kool-Aid McKinstry, who was limited on Wednesday with a hamstring injury, missed practice entirely on Thursday. Considering that Paulson Adebo is already sidelined for the season, and Rico Payton also isn’t practicing with a back injury, the Saints only have a couple of healthy corners.
Those healthy corners are Alontae Taylor and Ugo Amadi, and both guys play in the slot. Obviously, if push comes to shove, they would both lineup outside, but that isn’t ideal.
Coming into the season, the cornerback room was the deepest and most talented unit for the team. But, when a team has been ravaged by injuries like New Orleans has, even the deepest rooms will be impacted.
Now, the Saints have to hope these guys can get healthy by Sunday, or they’ll have to be really creative with cornerback depth for Sunday’s game. New Orleans is lucky to be facing a struggling Carolina Panthers team, but a lack of corners could awake the deadest of offenses. New Orleans has to figure something out so that isn’t the case on Sunday.
