The New Orleans Saints selected former Arizona State wide receiver Jordyn Tyson with the eighth overall pick. One of the happiest people in the building might be his new quarterback, Tyler Shough.

New Orleans' next potential franchise quarterback quickly took to social media to celebrate the pick. "YESSIR," Shough said on X, formerly known as Twitter. "Let's work." Shough's ceiling in 2026 just raised after adding another dynamic weapon to the receiving corps.

Tyson is the highest receiver the Saints have selected since 1978, and he is sure to be a valuable weapon for the young QB. Tyson put back-to-back first-team All-Big 12 nominations on his resume since joining Arizona State in 2024. He' s one of the most athletic receivers in the draft this year, and Shough will be one of the biggest benefactors of the pick. As excited as Shough and the Saints are about the addition, Tyson is equally as excited to get to work with Shough.

New Saints WR Jordyn Tyson is ready to hit the ground running

Jordyn Tyson had one of the more emotional reactions on draft night. Fighting back tears, he told ESPN's Laura Rutledge that being selected by the Saints is a huge blessing. "The Lord's doing work on me, and he's not done," he said. "We're just going to keep this thing rolling. I'm going to give it my all, and that's all you can do."

Later that evening, Tyson also shared Shough's sentiments, saying that he can't wait to work with his new quarterback. "He's a great QB; he played half the season and was a finalist for Offensive Rookie of the Year. Great player, he's going to continue to do great things," Tyson said to the media. "He knows how to read the defense and is always on time; he's a great QB."

The pairing of Shough and Tyson has a chance to push the Saints up a peg, and that's before you factor in Chris Olave and Devaughn Vele. That's what makes this pick such a slam dunk.
