Jeffery Simmons showed up at 83 on the NFL Top 100 list, and New Orleans Saints quarterback Tyler Shough appeared in his video package describing how talented Simmons is. In the process, Shough exposed the Top 100 list for their inconsistent rankings.

No one believes Simmons should have been 83rd on this list. He's much closer to 1 than 100, and Shough didn't need to be asked this question directly to know how he feels. He described Simmons as "the best D-lineman that (the Saints) faced this year."

It only took Shough three plays to become acquainted with Simmons. He burst through the line of scrimmage immediately and took down Shough to force a three and out. Shough described the play saying, "I remember throwing a quick out route and he was already hitting me. I was like 'what just happened."

Jeffery Simmons exposed the NFL Top 100 list yet again

The NFL Top 100 list gains a lot of steam every year, because who doesn't like rankings. Additionally, this particular list is voted on by the players. It is often given more legitimacy because of players being the deciding factor.

However, every year there tends to be at least one player who feels so egregiously misplaced that list loses some credibility. This is that pick. It brings the question of players' motivations while voting. It's hard to watch Jeffrey Simmons and not see him as a player worthy of being in the top half of this list.

The Saints saw first hand just how good Simmons was, and Shough spoke to that. While it's set up to make every player look great when their turn rolls around, Shough's words truly embody why SImmons' ranking is so flawed.

"He's just an elite level guy to have in the middle that you can't really account for. He's going to win whenever he wants to," Shough said. It's a claim backed up by Simmons being the only interior defensive lineman with double digit sacks.

Does that sound like the 83rd ranked player in the league? Due respect to everyone who has made the list, this portion of the top 100 is filled with really good players. An absolute game wrecker and changer from the interior defensive line is supposed to be much higher than that.
