The New Orleans Saints have officially started a new chapter, hiring Kellen Moore as the team’s next head coach. Moore is fresh off a Super Bowl win with the Philadelphia Eagles, and he’s now focused on getting there with the Saints. In order to do that, New Orleans will need to make a lot of changes.

Those changes will start this offseason in the draft and free agency, but it’s also possible that the Saints could make a few big trades. New Orleans has several players it could move, and there are a ton of assets they could get in return. If the team does make some trades for Moore, here are three New Orleans should consider.

3. Saints should consider trading Derek Carr

Everyone is waiting to see what’s going to happen with Derek Carr this offseason. After two underwhelming seasons in New Orleans, his future is up in the air, despite having two more years on his contract. Since Carr has a no-trade clause, and has no plans of taking a pay cut, he could end up being released.

If he is willing to work with the team on finding a trade destination, New Orleans should absolutely consider moving him. Not only would the team get a package back in return, but Kellen Moore would be able to start from scratch in finding a quarterback. He needs to be paired with a younger QB that he can grow with long term.

2. Saints should trade Taysom Hill to the Broncos

Taysom Hill has been great for New Orleans throughout his career. He carved out a role as a do-it-all football player, and has sustained his production much longer than anyone expected. With that said, if a team is willing to trade anything for Hill, the Saints should absolutely make the move.

Taysom Hill will turn 35 in August, and he’s coming off a torn ACL that he suffered in Week 13. Additionally, he has just one season left on his deal. His time with the Saints has been fun, but it’s coming to an end. If New Orleans can even convince a team to send along a seventh-round pick, Hill should be moved.

1. Saints should trade for the No. 1 pick

This is a potential move that would benefit Moore the most, because it would bring in a player instead of sending one out. Specifically, this move would allow New Orleans to land one of the top quarterback prospects in the 2025 Draft class. With the Saints currently sitting at pick No. 9, the top two quarterbacks will be off the board.

If New Orleans goes through the process, and gets enamored with Shedeur Sanders or Cam Ward, the team should absolutely move up. It’s been reported that the Tennessee Titans are open to a trade, so New Orleans has to explore the possibility. The team needs a young quarterback to build around, and Kellen Moore definitely wants a guy that can run his offense.
