The 2025 Scouting Combine is officially underway, and various storylines are already unfolding. With teams already meeting with prospects, everyone is getting a glimpse at which players franchises are interested in. Of course, a combine meeting doesn’t mean a team will select a player, but it is the first step to that happening.
One of the intriguing storylines that has already emerged is at the quarterback position. Top quarterback prospect Shedeur Sanders has already, unintentionally, revealed some of the teams he has met with so far this week. Taking a picture with fans while walking the streets of Indianapolis, a video went viral because Sanders had three teams’ caps strapped to his backpack: the Cleveland Browns, the New Orleans Saints, and the Minnesota Vikings.

Of course, this generated excitement from fans who are hoping their team can land the elite quarterback prospect. The Browns, with the No. 2 overall pick, have the best chance to do so, but it’d be great for New Orleans if Sanders somehow slipped to them.

This isn’t a situation where Sanders just went to a gift shop and bought the hats of his favorite teams, he was likely given the caps after meeting with the franchises. Meetings mean that teams want to get to know a prospect a little more.
Although New Orleans is set to pick at No. 9, the team should absolutely be getting to know all the quarterback prospects. The Saints are in search of a franchise quarterback, and just because a prospect isn’t projected to fall to a team doesn’t mean they shouldn’t do the work. During the draft, anything could happen. Sanders could fall, or New Orleans may want to trade up and go get him.
It’s still incredibly early in the process, but the Saints are doing their due diligence on the top quarterback prospects in the draft class.
