KC Concepcion is likely a first round pick, but he isn't mentioned with Jordyn Tyson, Carnell Tate and Makai Lemon as one of the receivers who could be picked around the New Orleans Saints first round pick. If you ask Concepcion that would be a huge mistake. A week before the NFL Draft, the Texas A&M product declared himself as the best receiver in the draft.
This is the type of confidence you want in a receiver. It's one of those positions, like cornerback, where confidence is one of the traits is typically focused on. Clearly, Concepcion isn't lacking in this department. It isn't the first time his confidence has been on display. Concepcion has a speech impediment that became the focus of his Combine interview. He didn't shy away from it then and referenced it again in his letter, including using it to emphasize his closing remarks.

KC Concepcion is the prototype the Saints are looking for
Beyond just confidence in one's self, it's worth noting that media scouts are not the unquestionable judges where players fall in rankings. That's how you get players who are drafted earlier than you thought they would be, and reports follow on how multiple teams were high on the player. Some teams could feel the same way.
Regardless of where you think he fits in the wide receiver rankings, Concepcion is the prototype for the receiver the Saints need. The Saints don't have enough players who are a true threats with the ball in their hands. That's Concepcion's super power.
Need a 8 yard catch turned into 80 yards, he's your guy. There's obviously much more that you need, but if you had to pick the type of receiver to add to the roster, the obvious choice is a yards after catch threat. Concepcion gives you that and return ability on special teams as well.
The bad news for the Saints is Concepcion may be a tough player to get without trading up. He's likely going to go in the back half of the first round. A trade into the first round gives you a fifth year option on the receiver, but it's also going to be a much richer trade. If he falls to the second round, don't be surprised if the Saints go after Concepcion.
