The New Orleans Saints signed cornerback Jayden Price on Friday. Price spent the spring as a part of the UFL, playing for the Arlington Renegades. Price is the third former UFL player the Saints have signed this week. With his signing, the team now has eight cornerbacks on the roster.
Jayden Price is in the NDSU record books
Jayden Price would play all of his college ball at North Dakota State University from 2018 - 2023, becoming a team captain for his senior season. He appeared in 71 games for the Bison, totaling 107 tackles, 17 passes defended, three interceptions, and one sack.
Additionally, Price has 910 punt return yards, and his five punt return touchdowns is a school record. He faces a steep climb to making the team as a corner, but his past success on special teams provides a more reasonable route to the roster.
He would go undrafted in 2024 but signed with the Atlanta Falcons following the draft. Despite leading the team in tackling during a preseason game, Price was released as part of the final roster cuts.
Prior to the 2024 UFL season, Price spent some time in the Canadian Football League with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, but appeared in only one game. That spring, he signed with the Birmingham Stallions, but they traded him to the Arlington Renegades before the season started.
Price quickly became a big part of the Renegades defense. The cornerback played in all ten Renegades games, starting eight. During that time, he recorded 29 total tackles, half a sack, and led the UFL in pass deflections with 13.
Saints sign 2 more former UFL players
Price isn't the only UFL player the Saints signed. He isn't even the only Renegade New Orleans brought in. Price will reunite with his former Renegades teammate Seth Green, who was a tight end for Arlington in 2024 and signed with New Orleans earlier this week. The Saints have also signed Barry Wesley, a former offensive lineman for the Birmingham Stallions.
Unfortunately, in order to make room for the three signings, the Saints would have to waive cornerback Tre Fullen and running back Xazavian Valladay, who have been with the team since the beginning of the offseason. Valladay's is a bit of a surprise, as he made some impressive connections with quarterback Spencer Rattler.
