The New Orleans Saints 2025 NFL preseason has finally come to a close, and the biggest loser was Isaiah Foskey. He continued his unfortunate trend of disappointment. This time it may cost Foskey his job.

The Saints, and all teams around the league, must cut their roster down to 53 players by Tuesday afternoon. They've had many different position battles throughout training camp and the preseason. The front office will take the time to base their decisions on player performance and positional needs.

The Saints front office and coaching staff will have some difficult decisions to make, but there are a few cuts that will take no thought. Foskey, a former second round pick, stands out as one of the the names that could be on the departure.

Saints former 2nd round pick will most likely see his time come to an end in New Orleans

Foskey entered the 2025 preseason with his job potentially on the line, after the team brought in offseason acquisitions, Chris Rumph and Fadil Diggs. Both additions have outshined Foskey this preseason. Individually, his improvement has continued to remain stationary. It's fair to say he's likely failed to make an impression on the new staff and fallen out of favor in the pass rush room.

Foskey played a great amount of snaps throughout the entire preseason, generating very little production. He finished with as the 2nd lowest graded defender on the team with a 41.7 grade. His final preseason statistics saw him record 5 total tackles, 0.5 sacks, and a pass bat down.

In year 3, the Saints have yet to see any development from their former 2nd round pick. The team currently has better options at the position, making it almost certain that he will be cut by Tuesday's roster deadline.

Saints had high aspirations for former Notre Dame star

Isaiah Foskey spent 4 seasons at the University of Notre Dame, where he flourished in his final 2 seasons recording back to back seasons with 11 sacks. He also ended his collegiate career as the schools all-time sack leader with 26.5. He was drafted with the 40th overall selection, by the Saints in the 2023 NFL Draft. He was drafted to fill in a need at the pass rusher position, along with the expectation of becoming the future successor to veteran edge rusher Cameron Jordan.

Foskey came to New Orleans with high expectations, to say the least, he has had an extremely disappointing start to his career. He was once one of the most dominant collegiate pass rushers during his time at Notre Dame, now his transition to the NFL has seen a complete 180. In 27 career games, he has yet to register a single sack, hurry, or quarterback hit.
