The New Orleans Saints have lost yet another game this season, this time to the Buffalo Bills. In a game that was closer than some initially thought, Saints quarterback Spencer Rattler managed to impress. Outside of last week's game, Rattler impressing in a loss has become the norm.
Rattler completed 66% of his passes for 126 yards and one touchdown on Sunday. He also honed in on another aspect of his game, rushing for 49 yards on six carries, a career high. "That's something that I'm happy about today. I came into the game wanting to use my legs more." Rattler said postgame. "That got 'em on their heels a little bit early in the game, and that opened up some stuff for us, especially on third down... Wish there was more to build on, but I thought we moved the ball really well."
After Sunday's loss to the Buffalo Bills, Saints quarterback Spencer Rattler officially reached the double digits in his career losses. Unfortunately, that also pushes his hopes of his first career win back another week (He is now 0-10 in his career).
Following their fourth straight loss, the Saints are even closer to their first win of 2025
Rattler isn't the only one on a rough streak. Following the loss, the Saints are 0-4 for the first time since 2012, when then head coach Sean Payton was suspended following the bounty gate scandal. Rattler called the situation frustrating, but was confident that the team can win one this season.
Rattler has played well in the first quarter of the season. He hasn't set the world ablaze, but he hasn't crashed and burned like many were expecting from him. There have been games where it felt like the young quarterback played well enough for the team to win, though it wasn't perfect.
The fact is, though, that the Saints are close to their first win in the Kellen Moore era. So close that they can practically taste it. But through the first four weeks of the 2025 season, the black and gold aren't taking advantage of their opportunities. At least, that's what the head coach himself said at his post game press conference.
When speaking to the media, the first-year head coach was also a bit more optimistic about the season's future than some fans might like. "We just gotta keep on going, just keep on battling. We missed four ops, but you're given 13 more of these," Moore said. "We just gotta keep getting better and put ourselves in a good position."
