Week 8 brought a lot of great injury news for the New Orleans Saints, as the team welcomed a handful of key players back from injuries. Among those players was Chris Olave. The talented wide receiver missed New Orleans’ Week 7 game after a big hit sidelined him with a concussion in Week 6.

It didn’t take long for Olave to scare Saints fans with what seemed like déjà vu. In the first quarter, during New Orleans’ third offensive series, Spencer Rattler completed a pass to Olave, and the young receiver was immediately sent flying by a Los Angeles Chargers receiver.

Eerily similar to the play he was concussed on, the ball went rolling, and Olave took a trip to the medical tent. Unlike the Week 6 hit, though, Olave was ruled down by contact, and he remained in the game.

Chris Olave on the receiving end of another big hit

Saints fans are glad Olave was able to get up and keep playing, but they don’t want to see the team’s No. 1 receiver getting rocked every week. Considering he’s a 6-foot, 187-pound receiver that excels with speed and route running, he’s certainly going to be on the wrong end of a fair share of big hits. However, he needs to do his best to minimize these collisions, especially considering his history of concussions.

Chris Olave is one of the best young receivers in the league, with the skillset to be one of the best receivers in the league period. The Saints need him on the field to be successful, especially now that Rashid Shaheed is sidelined for the year following his recent meniscus repair. If Olave can stay healthy, and avoid the big collisions, he can do special things on the field with with New Orleans.
