The New Orleans Saints hosted Georgia tight end Oscar Delp for dinner on Tuesday, March 17, one day before his pro day. This isn’t the first time they’ve coincided with the former Bulldog, as the two sides met during the 2026 NFL Scouting Combine. These meetings are a clear sign of interest from the Saints, which fans should be ecstatic about. Delp is a potential three-down player with untapped potential that would elevate a questionable position group.
It’s noteworthy that the Saints haven’t scheduled a top-30 visit or workout with Delp. This means he hasn’t been in the facility yet. Although multiple factors could impact this, the most likely outcome is that the Saints have seen enough and don’t feel the need for it. If they already like a prospect, then why use one of their limited visits on him?
Delp couldn’t compete at the Combine because of a hairline fracture in his foot. However, he was able to recover and participate in Georgia’s pro day, where he ran an impressive 4.48 40-yard dash. He looked fully healthy, partaking in other tests and on-field drills. It appears this workout was enough evaluation for the Saints.
Oscar Delp would be a perfect fit in the Saints' offense.
Delp’s a classic case of not judging someone by their production. He only had 20 receptions for 261 yards and one touchdown in 2025, but wasn’t used to his full potential. Delp is an amazing athlete and is a proficient route runner, which causes him to be a matchup nightmare. He’s too quick for opposing linebackers and too strong for defensive backs.
Delp still needs to get stronger in run blocking, especially when blocking defensive ends. He has excellent technique, but gets overpowered at times. The potential is there on early downs, but a tight end coach will have to work with him.
His stock is hard to determine, but Delp will likely require a third-round pick. He’s well worth the price, especially since the Saints need a tight end outside of Juwan Johnson and newly-acquired Noah Fant. Delp could be a day-one contributor and be a reliable weapon for Tyler Shough.
