"If you want to be the best, you got to beat the best" is a popular wrestling phrase. While the New Orleans Saints have the son of a WWE Hall of Famer on their roster, their first round pick Jordyn Tyson is taking a different approach. A video of Tyson working with Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Justin Jefferson made it's way to social media this week.
Tyson just made it to New Orleans, and he's already making local connections. Ditching the 24/7 competition mindset, we've seen more players training together during the offseason. There's music playing over the video, so it's difficult to hear exactly what's being said. It looks like Jefferson is giving Tyson pointers on how to attack defenders at the top of the route.
Jefferson is a great teacher to learn from. A graphic was recently posted of players with the most receiving yards in the last 10 years, and Jefferson made the list despite only playing six seasons. Phenomenal route running has always been a key component of his game, so Tyson is certainly in good hands in that department. The more the rookie can take from arguably the best in the business, the better for Saints fans.
Saints' Jordyn Tyson was already drawing Justin Jefferson comparisons

Tyson working with Jefferson is a bit poetic. The week of the draft, an assistant general manager anonymously told analyst Albert Breer that Tyson reminded him of Jefferson. "He’s Justin Jefferson Lite. He's just not as good after the catch," the assistant GM told Breer.
If Tyson has anything close to Jefferson's path, the Saints will have one of the best receiver duos in the NFL. Like Jefferson, Tyson wasn't drafted to be the team's go-to target. Adam Thielen was the Vikings' number one receiver, and Jefferson was supposed to be a strong complement to him. It only took a season to realize it was the other way around.
Jefferson recorded 1400 yards as a rookie. Tyson comes in with Olave already established as the lead receiver in the room. If Tyson has a Jefferson-esque rookie campaign, there will be conversations had about who is the Saints' true lead receiver. Let's just say there's worse problems to have.
Fast forward 5 years and Jefferson is one of the most consistent and elite receivers in the league. Tyson has the same fluidity in his movement that Jefferson has, but you can't ever want to put expectations of Jefferson's career on a player. Getting close to it, however, could give the Saints that bonafide stud receiver they've lacked since Michael Thomas left.
