Drew Brees is being inducted into the New Orleans Saints Ring of Honor during halftime of the Saints’ Week Five matchup against the Minnesota Vikings on October 11. This is a well-deserved tribute and further immortalizes the greatest player in franchise history.
This announcement comes directly after Brees was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame on August 8. Now, the NFL’s second-all-time leading passer and the Saints’ franchise record holder in virtually every passing category will be recognized as the ninth member of the Saints’ Ring of Honor.
Many fans would have expected Brees to be honored against the Falcons due to the nature of the rivalry. Per NewOrleans.Football's Nick Underhill, the Saints worked with Brees to schedule the ceremony and contemplated choosing that week four matchup against the Falcons. However, they opted for the Vikings game to keep the focus on the 20th anniversary of Steve Gleason’s blocked punt in the Superdome’s return.

If it wasn’t obvious before, it is now: Brees is joining an exclusive club and will be surrounded by the greatest players/personnel in team history. It’s a distinguished honor that’s rarely awarded, with Jahri Evans being the most recent in 2024.
It goes without saying that Drew Brees deserves to be in the Saints’ Ring of Honor. The all-time great led them to 142 career wins, highlighted by the 2010 Super Bowl victory. His leadership, on and off the field, is unparalleled and helped build the team’s culture. Brees is a franchise great and will now be enshrined as one forever.
