The New Orleans Saints knocked off the New York Jets in comfortable fashion in their final home game of the season. The final score and result went the way many fans, likely on both sides, expected it. Tyler Shough looks like the quarterback of the future, and the Jets had to start Brady Cook. These teams may have started the year in similar positions, but New Orleans has clearly pulled away in this race.

The Saints walked in and out of the season's last game in the Caesars Superdome in style. They wore the gold jerseys they debuted this offseason. It is still a welcomed addition to Saints gameday closet. The jerseys have been sold for years, but now the Saints get to wear them in-game. On top of that, they also wore the black lids.

Look good, play good was the clear mantra for Sunday. The Saints played lock down defense against a floundering offense. Shough constantly led the offense down the field, even if they had to settle for field goals more than desired. The exclamation point on the game was a deep touchdown pass from Taysom Hill to Chris Olave on the final offensive possession.

The curse of the black helmets has finally been lifted

Kellen Moore will officially go down as the head coach to secure the first victory in both the gold jerseys and black helmets. They opened the season with this combination and are closing their home stretch with it. The one difference was trading the black pants for gold pants. It made for a significantly better look, and superstitiously, a more successful look.

The black helmets have been around much longer than gold jerseys. The Saints first debuted the helmets in 2022 and have lost every game they've worn it. They've worn the helmets three times this season alone. Lost to the Cardinals and Falcons while wearing the black helmets. It's way past the third wear all-time, but third time was the charm for Kellen Moore.

This was just the second time the Saints wore these jerseys. It's no accident Moore decided to wear those jerseys in the first and last home games. It's a new era. Hopefully, it's a more successful era. Now that this monkey is off the Saints' back, let's bring those jerseys back more often, specifically with gold pants.
