Earlier this month, Pro Football Network listed 20 notable free agents and where they might land. For pending free agent Jauan Jennings, his next home is expected to be with the New Orleans Saints.
Jennings was taken in the seventh round by the San Francisco 49ers back in 2020. In San Francisco, he managed to earn himself not just a roster spot but a pivotal role on the offense. Additionally, Jennings’ 1,883 receiving yards leads San Francisco receivers over the past three seasons. Since 2023, he has also had 16 receiving touchdowns and a 158.3 QBR rating in the playoffs (highest in NFL history).
Currently Jennings' market value is projected to be $22.6 million a year, according to Spotrac. That's a number that perfectly fits in the Saints' projected cap space for 2026. However, if he does decide to come down to New Orleans, he might find some company.
Jauan Jennings would give more clarity to an already crowded WR room
Juan Jennings, a five-year NFL veteran, would join an already crowded wide receiver room if the Saints decide to sign him. 13 receivers are already on the Saints; he'd be the 14th on the roster before spring starts. That doesn't account for any draftees
Adding Jennings would provide more clarity for the unit. Reserve/future players like Damien Alford and Elijah Cooks are likely the first to go. They were long shots to make the roster anyway, but they aren't the only Saints that would have their roster spot at risk.
Trey Palmer and Ja'Lynn Polk, two wide receivers that the Saints added to their roster that didn't play a snap in 2025, will have to now compete even harder for a spot. Polk seems solidified as the current third receiver, but the addition of Jennings would make his position less certain. He still seems like a likely piece of the equation, but his impact could lessen.
Bub Means and Mason Tipton could lose their spots to him as well. Neither has a guaranteed spot on the roster, just like the others. They've just been on the team for longer than the others. Tipton has also showed chemistry with quarterback Tyler Shough, making him have the most solid spot among the possible cuts.
