The New Orleans Saints should continue building their wide receiver room, and they should watch to see if the Green Bay Packers waive wide receiver Romeo Doubs during roster cuts.

Bleacher Report's Kevin Knox certainly thinks it's a possibility. He listed Doubs as one the 10 biggest names that could soon hit the market in the next week. With the Saints uncertainty at wide receiver Doubs jumps off the list.

Roster cuts will be finalized on Aug 26. It may be called final roster cuts, but teams will be actively dealing in the immediate aftermath. If Doubs is waived, New Orleans needs to jump on the opportunity to bolster their room!

Doubs provides a solid target for young quarterback

The Packers are looking to potentially part ways with him, as they could save up to $3.4 million in cap space.  They currently have a logjam in their receiver room, the new additions of Matthew Golden and Savion Williams have knocked him out of favor and priority for the Packers future.

Romeo Doubs was selected by the Packers in the 4th round of the 2022 NFL Draft.  He’s had a productive 3 years to begin his career, playing a key role as a pass catcher for Jordan Love and Aaron Rodgers.  He suited up in 43 games, hauling in 143 catches for 1,700 yards and 15 touchdowns, in his first 3 seasons.

The Saints currently have a quarterback battle between two young and inexperienced quarterbacks who could use all the help that they can get, for a smooth development.  Doubs would provide them with a versatile contributor, with his route running, contested catches, and big time red zone snags.

Saints should make room for high potential target

Doubs hasn’t proven to take the next leap as next level receiver. His 22 career drops have been a major blemish on his career, and it has impeded his progress to evolve. Despite the lack of concentration and drops, he is still a fine player and has not entered his prime.

At only 25 years old, Doubs still has time to develop and has great potential to become a top tier 2nd option. He wouldn't have to start there for the Saints. The top three in the wide receiver room are solidified. It's a low risk, high reward move.

The Saints shouldn’t be completely sold with their current wide receiver bunch, their injury history and production outside of Olave is concerning. Doubs would give the Saints an instant offensive boost, as he could contribute greatly.
