The 2026 NFL Scouting Combine wrapped up on Sunday afternoon in Indianapolis. Numerous players had impressive performances; however, Oregon tight end Kenyon Sadiq separated himself from the competition with a historic athletic showing. This solidified himself as a first-round talent and vaulted him up draft boards. He should be an enticing option for the New Orleans Saints, but not at pick eight.
Sadiq had an all-time great performance at the NFL Combine. Everybody expected him to impress prior to the tests, but not to this extent. Sadiq’s day was highlighted by a blazing 4.39 40-yard dash. For reference, this was the fastest by any tight end in combine history. Additionally, he showcased his explosiveness by recording a 43.5” vertical (second best all-time for TE) and 11”1’ broad jump (number three all time for the position).
The 6-foot-3, 241 pound prospect had an impressive 2025 campaign with 51 receptions for 560 yards and eight touchdowns. His athleticism is evident while playing and creates a matchup nightmare for opposing defenses, especially in man coverage. Usually, a linebacker or safety guards the tight end in this coverage. However, because of Sadiq’s uncanny athleticism, he’s too agile for linebackers and physical for safeties. This creates a constant mismatch that the quarterback can frequently target.
Despite an impressive showing, Kenyon Sadiq isn’t an option at pick eight for the Saints
Sadiq is an outstanding player and will likely translate well to the NFL but shouldn’t be a target at pick eight. Simply put, there are better prospects at greater positional needs available. He’s still an option for the Saints, but they would need to trade back in order to justify his value.
Regardless of this, Sadiq would be an amazing fit on the Saints. They could use an additional tight end as the position has been inconsistent in recent years. This is exemplified by Juwan Johnson, who is dynamic when playing well, but isn’t reliable. It’s important the Saints surround Tyler Shough with trustworthy and explosive weapons, which they currently don’t have at the position. Because of this, Sadiq would fit right in and be a day-one contributor.
Overall, the Saints should be interested in Kenyon Sadiq if they trade down in the first round of the 2026 NFL Draft. His elite performance at the 2026 NFL Scouting Combine solidified his stock as a first round prospect and showed his world-class athleticism.
