The Pittsburgh Steelers are in the market for a true number 2 wide receiver that can complement D.K Metcalf on the outside and someone who can stretch the field. One name to watch is Rasheed Shaheed of the New Orleans Saints.
The Saints are currently in rebuild mode and expected to shop several veteran players, to acquire valuable draft picks and assets. Knowing this, teams will come calling. Shaheed is proof they are already reaching out.
However, while many veterans may be on the trading block, the question remains: is there an untouchable player still on the Saints roster?
Saints will get calls for everyone, but are there any players who spark an immediate hang up?
The untouchables don’t exist in New Orleans- Tramell Jeffers
The Saints surely have a mixture of promising youth and veterans, but at this stage it’s very difficult to say that anyone on the roster is truly untouchable. Alvin Kamara remains a productive player, but is in the back end of his prime and could draw interest from contending teams. Chris Olave has shown flashes but hasn’t quite taken the next step into the upper tier of NFL wide receivers. With the team looking to rebuild, every player could be dealt for the right price.
Erik McCoy is the only veteran who is off limits- Darrion Gray
Outside of players drafted in the last two years, there aren't many players who absolutely shouldn't be traded. There are some who it would hurt, so you'd like them to stay. Erik McCoy, however, is the one exception. He's the lynch pin of the offensive line. He's only 28 years old, so he's at an age where you can easily envision him as a veteran building block. You'll need a strong offensive line to elevate as a team. McCoy is critical in that
Trading Olave is tempting but don't do it- Drew Collings
In my opinion, it makes no sense for the New Orleans Saints to trade Chris Olave. It’s imperative that they give their young quarterback, whether it’s Spencer Rattler, Tyler Shough, or someone they draft, as many weapons as possible. Although he’s been fully healthy this year, his injury history would bring down his value. The Saints offense would begin to deteriorate without Olave. It would be ill-advised to ship off an elite receiver for a future draft pick.
Return isn't worth dealing Alvin Kamara- Molly Bauer
A player on the New Orleans Saints that I wouldn’t trade would be running back Alvin Kamara. Despite what some may say, like how we could get a day two draft pick for him, I really don’t think that’s the case. Just look to last year, when Joe Mixon was traded for a seventh round draft pick, the precedent just isn’t there. There’s also the risk of over using Kendre Miller if he’s traded, something that you don’t wanna do to any RB, as there’s not much established players behind him in the room.
