Saints make draft day splash trade in latest mock draft

Here's what I want the Saints to do in the NFL Draft.

The 2026 NFL Draft starts Thursday, April 23, meaning the New Orleans Saints are almost on the clock. This draft is pivotal for the future of the team, as they seek to carry their momentum into next season and build upon an elite 2025 class.

This mock draft was based on my dream scenario for the Saints. It’s not predictive, that article comes tomorrow, but it’s what I’d do if I had sole control.

With that said, it’s time to get into my seven-round mock draft if I was Mickey Loomis.

Sonny Styles is Brandon Staley's best-case scenario at pick eight

1:8- Sonny Styles, LB, Ohio State

Sonny Styles is unlikely to be available at pick eight, but he would be a perfect addition to Brandon Staley’s defense. The former Buckeye would flawlessly fill Demario Davis’ role and could develop into an all-pro player. His superhuman athleticism, spectacular run defense, and prowess in pass coverage makes him a well-rounded prospect who impacts every play.

Trade: Saints receive pick 34, Cardinals receive pick 42, 172, and Spencer Rattler

Spencer Rattler is on the trade block, so why not send him back to his hometown and let him compete to become the starter in Arizona? His inclusion makes trading up eight spots in round two relatively cheap. The Saints should entertain this type of move if it’s available on draft day.

2:34- Denzel Boston, WR, Washington

There wasn’t a scenario where I left my personal dream mock without Denzel Boston. The six-foot-four, 209 pound prospect is my WR1 this draft cycle. Boston’s an exceptional contested catch threat, reeling in nearly 80% of his opportunities in 2025. Additionally, he has deceptive speed and is a surprisingly great route runner, which he doesn't get enough credit for. Boston would be a perfect fit with Chris Olave and form a dynamic tandem for the foreseeable future.

3:73- Keylan Rutledge, G, Georgia Tech

Keylan Rutledge’s mauler mentality against the run and potential as a pass protector make him an ideal selection in round three. He’s an outstanding athlete and plays with exceptional leverage, allowing him to consistently move defenders. Rutledge would be the successor to Cesar Ruiz and help sure up the weakest position on the Saints’ roster.

Other selections

4:132- Emmett Johnson, RB, Nebraska

4:136- Nadame Tucker, EDGE, Western Michigan

5:150- VJ Payne, S, Kansas State

6:190- Lewis Bond, WR, Boston College
