The New Orleans Saints have wasted no time beginning the search for their next shot caller. The first Monday of the offseason has already seen the franchise announce multiple interviews with various personnel from across the league.

Initially, it was reported that the club would be preparing for a meeting with fomer Tennessee Titans head coach, Mike Vrabel, as early as next week. On Monday, NFL Network's Jane Slater also reported that New Orleans would be interviewing the Denver Broncos current Senior Personnel Executive, David Shaw.

Former Saints DB and current defensive coordinator for the Detroit Lions, Aaron Glenn, has also had his name thrown into the mix of the conversation. Now, according to the National Insider for the NFL Network, Ian Rapoport, New Orleans has surprisingly requested yet another interview for the position.

Saints wish to interview Kellen Moore for open head coach position

Much like the Shaw announcement, the request to interview current Philadelphia Eagles offensive coordinator, Kellen Moore, comes as a surprise to many. Moore, who got his start with the Dallas Cowboys, is currently conducting the second-best offense in the league in terms of point differential.

The Eagles finished the 2024 regular season ranked seventh overall in total points and eighth overall in total offensive yards. Additionally, Moore's offenses have finished sixth overall or higher in point differential in four of his six years as a coordinator. The same is also true for yardage differential and total offensive points.

Prior to beginning his career as an offensive coordinator, Moore spent the 2018 NFL season as the quarterbacks coach for the Cowboys. With the Saints presumably interested in developing the talent of their current QB2, Spencer Rattler, the interest in an offensive minded coach with experience in quarterback development makes sense.

Resume wise, he may not be the most experienced coach on the Saints radar, but he is the youngest. Additionally, his interview process will likely develop much slower than others, as it will be difficult for New Orleans to properly interview him with the Eagles quickly approaching their much anticipated playoff debut against the Green Bay Packers on Sunday January 12.

However, this is yet another positive sign that the Saints are considering all options and qualified candidates throughout their search for the right play caller and they should be applauded for getting off to such a fast start this offseason.
