Entering year four in the NFL, New Orleans Saints wide receiver Chris Olave has been at the center of trade rumors. New Orleans hasn’t so much as hinted to him being available, but since he’s a talented young receiver that a lot of teams would love to have, and New Orleans hasn’t experienced much success recently, his name has been included in trade speculation all offseason.

On Thursday, Saints head coach Kellen Moore finally spoke about the rumors surrounding Olave. The first-year head coach kept it simple by going to the book of coach speak and telling the media not to worry too much about the Olave rumors.

Kellen Moore says not to worry about a possible Chris Olave trade

There’s not much Moore could really say on the topic, but his statement isn’t going to stop the rumors from continuing to circulate. However, it doesn’t make much sense for New Orleans to trade Olave, so unless the team gets an overwhelming offer, the veteran receiver will be playing his fourth season in New Orleans.

Olave is under contract for two more seasons with the Saints, and that’s why trade speculation didn’t make that much sense. It’d be different if the receiver was entering the final year of his deal and it was time to talk about an extension, but New Orleans is a year away from those conversations. Since that’s the case, it makes sense to let Olave play this year out, allowing him to be the No. 1 receiver for whichever young quarterback wins the starting job.

The receiver surpassed 70 catches, 1,000 yards and four touchdowns in each of his first two seasons, but multiple concussions limited him to just eight games in 2024. Still, he posted 32 receptions for 400 yards and one touchdown. If Olave can stay healthy in 2025, he will deliver and earn a worthy extension that keeps him in New Orleans.
