Kellen Moore got his guy! The New Orleans Saints drafted Jordyn Tyson in the first round. Despite Tyson being one of two players that felt the most likely before the draft started, along with Caleb Downs, it still felt like a bit of a surprise.

For the last couple of weeks it felt like whoever fell to the Saints between Downs and Tyson would be the pick. Somehow both Tyson and Downs fell to them, and they went with Tyson. It was a great dilemma to have, and it's hard to say there was a clear cut answer.

The one thing this shows is that the Saints medical team clearly was comfortable with Tyson in their top-30 visit. Tyson looked explosive during the clips from his private workout. If the explosiveness from his workout and tape translates to the pros, the Saints just got a lot more dangerous out wide.

Kellen Moore won the debate to land Jordyn Tyson.

The battle for Downs versus Tyson feels like a battle between Kellen Moore and Brandon Staley These were two elite prospects who it's hard to definitively say who would have been more impactful to the team.

Kellen Moore is going to argue that getting weapons to bolster Tyler Shough in his second season is the most important aspect for the team. The free agency period certainly says that's the mission for the season.

Brandon Staley will argue STAR is one of the most important positions on his defense. They just lost Alontae Taylor, and Downs has the potential to be an upgrade over Taylor quickly. The position is asked to cover, be in run support, and also be a pressure player. It's not a simple job in the slightest.

There's no doubt Tyson is the more exciting option simply due to position. Breaking tackles, getting yards and scoring touchdowns is always going to pop more than tackles and good coverage. Interceptions would rival and exceed most of those moments, but it's also going to be more rare than yards and touchdowns. Exciting doesn't equate to better or worse, but it does equate to exciting. Tyson's impact likely will be easier to spot than Downs' would have.

Whether it's philosophy of rolling with the standard premier position or two coaches having it out, Tyson has a chance to be an immediate impact player. If it did truly come down to Moore versus Staley, we all should have known Moore would get his way.
