On Sunday, the New Orleans Saints will host the Washington Commanders for a Week 15 matchup. New Orleans is entering the game at 5-8, and the Commanders are coming in at 8-5. However, the Saints are 3-1 since Darren Rizzi took over as interim head coach, so they’re hoping to pull off the upset on Sunday.
Franchise legend Marshon Lattimore will be on the opposing sideline as he makes his Commanders debut, and he’ll be motivated to make some plays against the franchise he played all his NFL games with up until this point. The star corner is finally healthy after battling a hamstring injury that sidelined him back to his time with the Saints. Now, he’ll be on the field trying to give his former team fits.
Unfortunately for New Orleans, some of Lattimore’s former teammates won’t be suiting up on Sunday. Here’s a look at New Orleans’ inactives for Sunday’s game.
Saints Week 15 inactives
Player | Position | Year |
---|---|---|
Derek Carr | Quarterback | 11 |
Jordan Mims | Running back | Two |
Tanoh Kpassagnon | Defensive end | Eight |
Mason Tipton | Wide receiver | Rookie |
Khristian Boyd | Defensive tackle | Rookie |
Key absences and their impact
The biggest absence is, of course, starting quarterback Derek Carr. The veteran QB injured his non-throwing hand in Week 14, so his availability for the rest of the season is up in the air. While there have been reports that Carr is likely finished for the year, New Orleans is holding out hope, opting not to place him on injured reserve.
Starting in his place is second-year quarterback Jake Haener. This will be Haener’s first career start, and also his first action in a game that isn’t already decided. In his short career, Haener has appeared in seven games, completing 14-of-29 passes for 177 yards and one touchdown. On Sunday, he’ll need the help of his offensive line, the running game, and a solid defense, if he’s going to be victorious in his first start.
