The 2025 NFL Draft is around the corner, and this draft is seemingly as open as any one in recent memory. There’s so much uncertainty about what players teams will take, and franchises have done a pretty good job of keeping their cards close to their chest. There also haven’t been any first-round trades yet, which is extremely rare, only adding to the confusion.

The New Orleans Saints are a team that could help shake things up, because they’re equipped with a top-10 pick (No. 9), and there are several directions the team could go. Some analysts believe the Saints will take a pass catcher, and others think they’ll draft a defensive lineman. There’s even a belief New Orleans will take a quarterback at nine, even if the top two QB prospects are already off the board.

The Saints have been getting to know the quarterbacks in this draft class, meeting with the top guys at the Scouting Combine, but a recent report makes it seem like the team has a heavy interest in at least one of them. Senior NFL writer Albert Breer recently reported that the team is planning to have dinner with Quinn Ewers on Monday night, ahead of Texas’ pro day on Tuesday.

Pro day season is in full effect, and the Saints traveled to Miami on Monday for the Hurricanes’ pro day. The team will have the opportunity to see Cam Ward there, but he’s seemingly a lock for the No. 1 pick. The fact that New Orleans is willing to attend Miami’s pro day, and then hop on a private jet to make it to Austin in the same day shows they have some serious interest in Ewers.

Most teams send representatives to all of the high-profile pro days; that’s not always a sign of heavy interest. Taking a prospect to dinner with the organization’s top brass is usually one of the biggest signs of significant interest.

It makes sense for New Orleans to get familiar with Ewers, because he’s expected to be a day-two pick. The Saints probably won’t have the chance to select Ward or Shedeur Sanders, but Ewers could be waiting for them in rounds two or three. He was once believed to be one of the top quarterback prospects in this class, but he’s now flying under the radar in the QB4 to QB6 range.

That could end up working out for the Saints if they really like him, because they’ll have the chance to address other positions early in the draft, and could still address the quarterback position by selecting him on day two.
