The New Orleans Saints have had a busy offseason, adding weapons to both offensively and defensively. Because of this, certain players are flying under the radar and poised to breakout in 2026. Tyler Shough has been drawing headlines for a months now, and some of the other 2025 draftees could be next to breakout.
There's still plenty of time before the regular season. Things can, and will change throughout OTA's, training camp, and the preseason. However, this is where things stand now and our perpsective from the offseason.
With that said, the Who Dat Dish team takes their shot at a breakout canadite for the Saints in 2026.
Saints 2025 draft class ready to take an even bigger step forward in 2026
Devin Neal
The Saints drafted Devin Neal last season, but he was limited by injuries. As a result, fans never saw his full potential. He was an illustrious rusher in college and his rare combination of power and elusiveness makes him an ideal fit next to Travis Etienne Jr. and Alvin Kamara. Don't be surprised if he's a major contributor next season.~ Drew Collings
Kool-Aid McKinstry
Kool-Aid McKinstry is primed for a year 3 breakout after posting a 69.5 PFF grade and 71.4 in coverage, signaling strong development and improving consistency. His instincts, ball skills, and comfort within the scheme should continue to grow with experience. With a full offseason to train, McKinstry positioned to take a significant leap, and the organizations confidence in his progression likely explains why they didn’t make a major move at the position this offseason.~ Tramell Jeffers
Vernon Broughton
Vernon Broughton might be one of the more under-the-radar breakout candidates heading into this next season. A third-round pick in the 2025 draft, the defensive tackle never really got much action in his rookie year after suffering a hip injury in week two. Saints defensive line coach Bo Davis coached Broughton back at the University of Texas. Davis is a huge fan of his versatility, and if he’s game, then we all should be.~ Molly Bauer
Jonas Sanker
Jonas Sanker got off to a strong start to his professional career in 2025, and he could have an even bigger role in 2026. Sanker and Julian Blackmon are the likeliest replacements for Alontae Taylor on the roster. Blackmon's range make him appealing at deep safety. Sanker has the physicality and instincts you want at STAR. If his coverage matches up, you could be watching an impact player forming at one of Brandon Staley's most important positions.~ Darrion Gray
