The New Orleans Saints haven’t addressed edge rusher this offseason. This makes it necessary that they find an answer in the 2026 NFL Draft, especially with Cam Jordan’s future uncertain. Fortunately for them, viable options await on all three days in April.

Chase Young is the only reliable edge defender currently on the roster. If the Saints want their defense to take a step forward next year, they need to bolster that unit. That's with or without a Jordan return involved.

This list doesn’t contain every intriguing prospect, but has three of the top options available for each day: one for the opening round, another for rounds two and three, and a third for the fourth and on. Having said that, here are three options at edge rusher that the Saints should during the NFL Draft.

Rueben Bain would be a fantastic pick-up for the Saints

First round: Reuben Bain Jr.

Don’t let prospect fatigue ruin the opinion around Rueben Bain; he’s an outstanding player and would instantly elevate the Saints defensive line. His prowess rushing the passer and impact against the run make him a perfect target at pick eight. Bain has been widely criticized for his lack of arm length, but this hasn’t slowed him down on the field. Bain would form a dynamic, game-wrecking tandem with Chase Young on the edge.

Day 2: Gabe Jacas

Gabe Jacas is a violent pass rusher who can win with speed, technique, or power. He will be a valuable player on third downs or obvious passing situations but still needs significant development as a run defender. This is why he’s a mid-round prospect. Jacas hasn’t shown the ability to set the edge and teams often run towards him. He will be a designated pass rusher early in his career, which is still a valuable position and is something the Saints need.

Day 3: Mikail Kamara

Mikail Kamara lacks elite size or traits for an edge rusher but makes up for it with his relentlessness and leadership. Kamara has a high-motor and never gives up on a play. He fires off the line every snap and has a developed pass rush skillset, which will help him contribute in the NFL. Additionally, Kamara is a fantastic locker room presence and helps shape a culture on the defensive line. These skills make him a high-floor prospect, but his lack of superb athleticism limits his ceiling.
