The New Orleans Saints seem to have found their quarterback of the future. In the back half of the 2025 season, Tyler Shough played as well as any rookie QB in his class. He and head coach Kellen Moore had the offense showing the signs of life that fans had been waiting for.
But the roster around Shough is still lacking. Outside of Chris Olave, the Saints don't have a clear threat at receiver. The offensive line is improving, but the quarterback still needs someone to throw the ball to. Especially considering Olave's unfortunate injury history, it may be wise for New Orleans to add a receiver this offseason.
ESPN's Mel Kiper has the answer. In his latest 2026 NFL mock draft, Kiper paired Arizona State wide receiver Jordyn Tyson with the Saints. The dynamic prospect could be the key to opening up the offense and turning Shough into a certified star.
Mel Kiper has Saints selecting Jordyn Tyson in latest 2026 NFL mock draft
When you find your franchise quarterback, you put pieces around him to help him succeed. That was Kiper's motive in sending Tyson to the Saints in his recent mock draft. Kiper said, "...Olave is under contract for only one more year, and even if the Saints extend him, they still need more pass-catching options for second-year quarterback Tyler Shough. Consider that Rashid Shaheed was the only other Saints wide receiver with over 300 receiving yards this season, and he was dealt at the deadline. Tyson could immediately be a red zone target for Shough thanks to his strength and ability on contested catches."
Tyson is arguably the top wide receiver prospect in the 2026 class. His recent injury history might cause him to fall a bit, potentially making him available to the Saints with the eighth pick. If they're comfortable with his medical profile, there's no reason not to take him.
The Arizona State wideout is a smooth route-runner with the body control and ball skills of an elite NFL receiver. He would pair well with Olave, as both players are able to line up either in the slot or on the outside. Along with Devaughn Vele, the duo would instantly give Shough enough pass-catching options to succeed.
Receiver isn't the only need on the Saints' roster, but if a player like Tyson is available when they're on the clock, they shouldn't hesitate to make the pick.
