The 2026 free agency period opens Monday, March 9, at 11:00 AM CST. Although contracts can’t officially be signed until Wednesday, countless deals will be agreed to. The New Orleans Saints will be heavily involved and make numerous roster moves.Â
Every mock draft before free agency is entirely speculation, the Saints will address certain needs, which will make them not an option during the 2026 NFL Draft. Because of this, fans will get a better view of the Saints potential draft strategy after this week.
Having said that, it’s time to get into a pre-free agency three-round New Orleans Saints mock draft.
Makai Lemon is an outstanding fit in the Saints offense
1:8- Makai Lemon, WR, USC
The Saints must find an explosive wide receiver opposite of Chris Olave and Devaughn Vele. Makai Lemon would fit perfectly because he would slide into the slot and allow the trio to play together. The 2025 Biletnikoff Award winner is an impeccable route runner and creates significant separation with his short-area quickness.Â
Lemon is only 5-foot-11 but plays far bigger. He has reliable hands and consistently brings in contested catches. He’s one of the most well-rounded prospects in the draft and will likely be a major contributor in year one. Lemon is an outstanding fit and would be an ideal selection for the Saints at number eight.
2:42- Keionte Scott, CB, Miami
Alontae Taylor is as good as gone, which means the Saints have a major need at slot cornerback. Luckily for them, a perfect prospect pairing awaits in Keionte Scott. The former Hurricane isn’t just impressive in coverage but also thrives in run defense and rushing the passer. He’s an impactful player who never takes a down off. Scott can help build a culture for the Saints defensively and be a day-one replacement for Taylor.
3:73- Keylan Rutledge, G, Georgia Tech
The Saints’ interior offensive line was pitiful in 2025. They will likely spend heavily on the position in free agency, but should still address it during the draft. A potential fit would be Keylan Rutledge in round three.
The 6-foot-3, 316 pound player is a stellar run blocker and shows flashes of impressive pass blocking ability. His mauler mentality stands out when he plays. Rutledge is constantly seeking to flatten defenders and pave a gap for his running back. He wouldn’t start immediately in a perfect scenario, and he would develop into a long-term answer for the Saints.
