We’ve known the New Orleans Saints were playing in Paris for a while now. It was originally leaked by a French publication. Continuing with the theme of leaks, we now know the Saints will square off with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Originally, the game was reported to be between the Saints and Browns on October 25. The latest leak confirms the day and division was correct. The Browns are just being replaced by the Steelers.

Honestly, the original leak has been out for so long that the league had ample time to switch gears if they didn’t want their thunder being stolen. The switch doesn’t impact Saints fans who may have begun planning their visit. The game is still being played on October 25.

International games could become a regular occurrence for the Saints

The Saints aren’t going to play annual games in France. Only the Jaguars do things like that. However, it wouldn’t be surprising to see the NFL frequently play games in France and the Saints participate every few years.

The Saints have exclusive rights to France, and they’ve been fostering the relationship. There’s also the clear cultural connection, so it makes sense for this to not be a one-off appearance. Having the Saints be a part of the first ever game in Paris was a no-brainer. How the first game goes could determine how often the NFL travels to Paris.

The Saints are giving up a home game to play in Paris, and they’ll likely be the home team most times they play in Paris. Once again, the Jaguars are the only team comfortable consistently doing that. Having to give up a home game may keep the Saints from participating every year, but this first game is setting up to be special.

As of Wednesday morning, the game versus the Steelers is the only matchup that's been leaked. As we get closer to Thursday evening, more leaks will probably pop up. The main event of the schedule release is how the team releases it more so than the order of games these days, so leaks mean less and less.
