Alvin Kamara recently went on Terron Armstead's podcast and quelled concerns about his future. In the same sitting, he also let it be known he was a fan of the New Orleans Saints' first-round pick Jordyn Tyson.
The Saints' running back called Tyson another weapon for the offense. "He's super talented. I watched him a little bit in college, and he was doing some things you see, and you're like, 'Whoa,'" Kamara said to his former teammate. "I'm super excited to get him in the building. I'll be over there soon."
Kamara has reason to be excited. A back-to-back All-Big 12 player, Tyson was considered by some to be the best wide receiver in the draft class. The former Sun Devil was so highly regarded that he was even almost taken by the Cleveland Browns at sixth overall, before the Saints ever got on the clock. Thankfully, that never came to fruition.
If Alvin Kamara likes Jordyn Tyson, then he'll like the rest of the Saints additions
A lot of the talk about the additions to the offense has been about how they've all been centered around quarterback Tyler Shough. If Kamara likes the addition of Tyson, then he'll love what's been done to the rest of the offense. Spoiler alert: it's only gotten better.
Along with Tyson, the Saints have added two other wide receivers: Bryce Lance and Barion Brown. Both speedy receivers, they were not the only weapons added through the draft. New Orleans also selected tight end Oscar Delp in the third round, who has the potential to become an elite pass catcher in the NFL. The passing offense really has a surplus of weapons now, a far cry from where they were in February.
The addition Kamara should like the most, though, is that of Travis Etienne. A former running back for the Jacksonville Jaguars, he can provide some much-needed help for the team captain. With Etienne now on board, Kamara won't have to carry the rock so much. Maybe now he'll be able to make it through a full 17-game season, something that he's never been able to do in his career.
If you want a good idea of how that could work, just look to what the Seattle Seahawks did last year with Kenneth Walker III and Zach Charbonnet. Now I'm not saying that the Saints are Super Bowl bound, but I am saying that a two-running back system is back in New Orleans.
That's not even all of the players that the Saints have added this offseason. There are still the UDFAs and the rest of the free agent class. However he looks at it, Alvin Kamara should be satisfied with what the team has done this offseason.
