"He’s probably just as excited as Saints nation is." That's what Alvin Kamara had to say about Kellen Moore's mentality going into the season. New Orleans Saints fans are excited to watch the impact of the massive influx of new weapons like Jordyn Tyson, so just imagine what it feels like to run an offense with these players at your fingertips.
Kamara joined Terron Armstead's The Set and gave a vote of confidence in his head coach. The running back said, "I feel like he can go far." One of the biggest reason is the talent on the roster. "He got some weapons. I feel like he got toys. He got a whole bunch of toys. He got a toy box."
It's not just the talent. Kamara trusts Moore to maximize that talent. There was a clear respect for how Moore approaches the offense. "It’s about collaboration and transparency and togetherness and trying to work towards a common goal. When you have an environment like that, the sky is the limit," Kamara stated.
Saints will get to see the full Kellen Moore experience in 2026
It’s hard to fully judge Kellen Moore as Saints head coach. First and foremost, it was his first year as a head coach. There’s some natural growing pains that are going to come with that experience. Moving forward, he’ll have to prove he can work out the kinks as years of experience accumulate.
On top of it all, Moore wasn’t working with the requisite offensive talent to maximize his offense. Spencer Rattler played admirably, but the switch that was flipped on offense when Tyler Shough took the reins shows he’s the man for the job. Instead of half a season with a rookie, Moore will get a full season of a more seasoned Shough, with an offseason to work on his craft.
The biggest shift on the team is cast around Shough. Injuries and roster moves left the Saints with 0 receivers or running backs who made the 53 man roster available in the season finale.
The response? Moore brought weapon after weapon after weapon, and now we’ll get to see how Moore really wants to run the offense. Kamara told Armstead, “He got all these tools at his disposal. For him, he just wants to create. It’s our job to make it come to life.”
Additions of Etienne and David Edwards give Moore a chance to lean more into the run. The Saints stacked up the receiving corps, giving him countless traits at the position to deploy in a variety of ways. The selection of Oscar Delp opens up the playbook for a more effective usage of 12 and 13 personnel.
Of course, the accumulation of talent is the biggest talking point of the offseason. It will be a driving force of offensive improvement, but it will also be the catalyst for offensive flexibility.
Kamara says Moore just wants to create, and now he has the pieces to do it. There were certain shackles on the offense that simply shouldn't be there in 2026. You pair that with a more experienced head coach, and the ceiling is as high as Kamara says it is for Moore. At the worst, we should receive the full Kellen Moore experience.
