Saints fans can relax after latest Chris Olave trade odds look good for New Orleans

Take a breath... we think.

For quite a while, now, the New Orleans Saints have made less-than-questionable financial decisions that have had this fan base pulling out their hair. Each year, it's seemed like the Saints were going to be that team which isn't quite good enough to compete, but at the same time, don't have the assets to land top free agents during the offseason.

As they work their way out of financial distress, the Saints have needed to depend on their ability to draft and develop talent. Of course, there's no bigger position than quarterback, but that remains a mystery.

One area that isn't a mystery, however, is who this team's no. 1 wide receiver is. There's no question it's Chris Olave, but with the team potentially being sellers at this year's NFL trade deadline, some fans have wondered whether Mickey Loomis would entertain a deal.

ESPN's Jeremy Fowler and Matt Bowen recently added to the conversation, though, and Saints fans will be thrilled to hear what they had to say.

Chris Olave doesn't appear likely to be traded based on the latest intel

Fowler and Bowen give Olave just a 20 percent chance at being traded by the deadline, which means the Saints would likely have to be blown away by an offer from a prospective team. That type of offer would probably have to start at a first-round pick.

While Olave hasn't quite had the production of some of the other top wideouts in this league, it hasn't exactly been his fault. We mentioned the quarterback situation, right? No need to say any more. There are good reasons why Olave has been involved in trade rumors.

Olave is also coming off his best game of the season where he caught a pair of touchdowns in a loss to the Chicago Bears and has two-straight games of 98 receiving yards. If he's able to stay healthy (which has, at times, been a big "if") then Olave is perfectly fine as the Saints' no. 1 option going forward.

The issue hasn't been with Olave, obviously. The questions continue to remain around just who exactly this team's quarterback will be going into future seasons. Spencer Rattler has shown some good things, but at the same time, is he truly ever going to be a franchise quarterback?

How long will it take for the Saints to find that franchise passer? How old will Olave be at that time? These are questions Loomis has to try and answer before the deadline, but again, in all likelihood, the star wide receiver isn't going anywhere.
