Essentially Sports' Tony Pauline recently revealed that the New Orleans Saints planned to work out University of Washington wide receiver Denzel Boston. A talented player, he's someone that the Saints could find a lot of value in.

Standing at 6'4" and weighing 209 lbs, Boston is one of the best big-bodied wide receivers in the draft this year. He actually has the class' third-highest career contested catch rate at 61%; however, it's his willingness to block that could really make him a valuable piece of the Saints offense. They're a team that's been putting a lot of emphasis on the run game this off season.

With a contested catch rate that high, Boston could easily become a Michael Thomas-like player in New Orleans, and with that willingness to block, he's likely to see the field more often than not. He would be likely to find himself as the next WR2 for the Saints if selected. Players like Devaughn Vele, who had a late-season burst, could give him some competition, but no other WR on the roster has really shown they can be the player that the Saints need behind/alongside Chris Olave.

The Denzel Boston visit shows that the Saints might go defense in round one

While he is a talented player, who earned third-team all-big 10 honors in 2025, Denzel Boston shouldn't be the first player off the board for the Saints. He's not projected to be a top-10 pick and is more likely to go anywhere from the late first to early second. He also isn't the first projected day-two receiver that's expected to take a visit to New Orleans, with Louisville wide receiver Chris Bell visiting the team as an official top-30 visit.

If they're comfortable with the receivers that could be available with the 42nd pick, why rush the pick at eight? The news of Boston expecting to work out with the Saints honestly reinforces the idea that the Saints might go and draft someone on the opposite side of the ball this April.

That opens the door for players like Ohio State's Caleb Downs, Arvell Reese, or Sunny Styles to hear their name called. Elite players at their respective defensive positions, both are top-10 talent. There's also Rueban Bain, the edge rusher out of Miami (FL). He could also hear his name called when the Saints are on the clock, especially if Cam Jordan signs somewhere else.
