Saints could give Tyler Shough his dream weapon in shocking trade idea

This sure would be something.

The New Orleans Saints had a fun end to their 2025 season and now they'll be looking to add some talent to their roster to help ensure that momentum keeps up in 2026. Building around Tyler Shough and helping him be the best possible quarterback will be the biggest task for the Saints brass this offseason and one player that could certainly do that is Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown, who could be on the trade block.

Alex Ballentine of Bleacher Report linked the Saints to a possible trade for Brown in a recent write-up, noting that Brown could be a major addition for Shough and the rest of the Saints offense.

"A.J. Brown is the lone exception when it comes to big names. Tyler Shough delivered a promising rookie season and Chris Olave's availability is often in question. Brown and the Philadelphia Eagles have had a publicly tense relationship and the team that would receive him in a trade would be getting a very team-friendly deal.

Brown has familiarity with Kellen Moore from his time as the Eagles offensive coordinator. A healthy Olave and Brown would immediately become a dangerous force multiplier for the Saints passing game."

Saints linked to bold A.J. Brown trade that could reshape offense

There's no doubt that Brown is a talented player but, as Ballentine touched on, his relationship with the Eagles definitely soured throughout the 2025 season. He was often popping off about the team off the field and sometimes, a change of scenery is just needed in those situations. New Orleans could be that change of scenery for Brown, who has a relationship with Kellen Moore from their time in Philadelphia in 2024 when the Eagles won the Super Bowl.

This past season saw Brown rack up 78 receptions for 1,003 yards and seven touchdowns. It was the second-lowest receiving yard total of Brown's career but still, going over the 1,000-yard mark even in a down year for his team's offense shows that the guy can ball out. As Ballentine pointed out, Chris Olave has dealt with injuries throughout his career so it could be nice to have another stud at the position, especially with Shough needing as much help as possible to keep this momentum going.

What the Saints would need to ask themselves here is if Brown is worth the headache to them. He's outspoken when the ball isn't sent his way and with a young quarterback entering just his second year in the league, do the Saints really want a distraction like that?

Brown and Moore have a previous relationship but is that enough to swing for the fences on a deal like this? That's what Mickey Loomis would need to ask himself this offseason before going all-in on a trade like this.
