Tennessee wide receiver Chris Brazzell II has been flying up draft boards ever since his impressive week three performance against Georgia. The New Orleans Saints were recently named as a potential fit for Brazzell by John Blair in a recent article for NFL Mocks. His dynamic play and big-threat ability could benefit the Saints offense.

The redshirt junior jumped onto the national scene after torching the Bulldog’s defense with six receptions for 177 yards and three touchdowns. Brazzell spent his first two years at Tulane before transferring to Tennessee last year. He had a disappointing 2024 campaign, only totaling 29 receptions for 333 yards and two touchdowns. He’s already surpassed his yardage and total touchdowns this season.

Brazzell uses his elite size (6’5”) and excellent body control to be a contested catch threat. He’s got rapid acceleration and deceleration to consistently create separation from defenders. He doesn’t have spectacular long-speed, but it’s enough to threaten the defense deep. Brazzell excels against man or press coverage, successfully stemming the defense to set up his route.

Chris Brazzell II would be a great fit with the Saints

The Saints haven’t been able to consistently generate big plays in 2025. They have ample speed but haven’t been able to capitalize on it. They traded for a contested catch threat in Devaughn Vele but don’t use him as a deep threat. Brazzell could answer their problems by combining the two archetypes, being explosive plus the ability to bring in contested catches.

John Blair has similar thoughts. He believes that grabbing Brazzell in the draft would benefit the Saints offense for years to come.

“With Rashid Shaheed approaching free agency,” Blair wrote,  “investing a Day 2 pick in Brazzell could give the Saints a dynamic weapon for the future.”

Blair brings up an interesting point about Rashid Shaheed approaching free agency. The Saints would obviously like to bring him back but Shaheed is an unrestricted free agent. If he does move on, drafting Brazzell would be smart.

Chris Brazzell II would be a great fit for the Saints. He would likely require a late day two pick but would be well worth it, especially if Rashid Shaheed leaves in free agency. His big play threat and contested catch ability makes him an intriguing player for any team.
