Long-time New Orleans Saints edge rusher Cameron Jordan is still sitting in free agency awaiting his next contract. While a return to the Saints is still likely, he’s exploring other options and may choose to head elsewhere. One of these potential destinations for Jordan is the Minnesota Vikings. David Latham at Last Word on Sports suggested this in his recent article.

“Cameron Jordan might not be the player he once was, as 2025 was his first double-digit sack season since 2021,” Latham wrote. “However, he’s still a solid pass rusher, and the Vikings could use someone like him on the roster.”

While this may hurt Saints fans, Jordan is a perfect fit on the Vikings. The team needs extra pass rush help and someone who can consistently be impactful against the run. Additionally, he already has some familiarity with the franchise. His father, Steve Jordan, spent his entire 13-year career in Minnesota. These attributes make the Vikings an enticing landing spot for him.

Despite this, the Saints are still the clear favorites to land Cameron Jordan

Even with the aforementioned qualities, the Saints are the favorites to land Jordan. The 15-year veteran had a career resurgence in his first year under defensive coordinator Brandon Staley. He’s consistently talked about the team, even tweeting about the Saints draft picks, this offseason and is heavily invested, regardless of his contract.

Jordan’s desire to return has been established, but the Saints should desperately want him back on the roster. He played a key role on the defense in 2025 and is expected to produce similarly next year. The Saints haven’t invested much capital at edge rusher, which means they believe in their group. This bodes well for Jordan’s future and shows their thoughts on him.

Until the deal is done, nothing is a full guarantee. While both sides have a reason to reunite, they haven't found middle ground yet. Until they do, separation is a real risk. Playing for his father's former team may be appealing. The Saints still have the lead, but the Vikings are an interesting landing spot.
