Pro Football Focus' Mason Cameron recently identified the best landing spots for the top 10 highest graded free agents, naming the New Orleans Saints as the best landing spot for New York Jets running back running back Breece Hall. The Saints struggled mightily in the run game last season, ranking near the bottom of the league in yards and efficiency.

“A myriad of injuries in the backfield left the Saints' running game underwhelming this season, finishing 31st in PFF rushing grade (68.8) as a team. Ineffective production on a down-to-down basis amounted to just 3.4 yards per attempt on designed runs (31st), while limited big-play ability resulted in just 6.5% of runs going for 10 or more yards, the lowest in the NFL.”

Hall is coming off of his most productive season, rushing for a career high 1,065 yards and four touchdowns, while adding 350 receiving yards and a score.  He could transform the offense by providing the consistent run game they’ve lacked for years.

Breece Hall brings the juice the Saints desperately need at running back

Hall would bring explosiveness, speed and versatility to the offense as a true three down back.  His ability to run inside, break big plays and contribute as a receiver would help balance this attack by taking pressure off the passing game, potentially aiding the development of Saints quarterback Tyler Shough.

“Enter Breece Hall , who had a career year in 2025, producing an 83.5 PFF grade and racking up 26 explosive runs. The Saints led the NFL in inside zone usage this season (35%), just one spot ahead of the Jets. Hall’s fit within Kellen Moore’s scheme is picture perfect, as the former Jet posted the third-highest PFF rushing grade (83.6) on inside zone runs this past season.”

Hall's 26 explosive runs jump off the page even if the Saints weren't last in percentage of runs to go for more than 10 yards. Take a look at the running back room, and there doesn't seem to be a fix there. There's running backs with potential or legacy, but there's not the explosiveness element present. Hall gives you that and a new lead back. The Saints need explosiveness more than a lead back, but why choose when you could have both in one?

Although Hall had a career season and displayed glimpses of elite play, he hasn’t yet reached his full potential.  Moving to New Orleans would give him a more stable and dynamic offense and allow him to fully unlock his All Pro talent.  With Kellen Moore’s creative scheme, Hall could thrive in the backfield and become a true game changer for New Orleans.
