Many fans have wondered whether Cam Jordan would return to the team for a 15th season, retire, or join a contender. New Orleans Saints general manager Mickey Loomis recently revealed that a deal is already on the table for the veteran pass rusher. This is the most forward-moving news we've heard on this front.

Despite continuing to play at a high level, veteran defensive end Cameron Jordan remains unsigned deep into free agency. It's no secret that the Saints are his first option. Staying available this long, however, also suggests he isn't seeing a great offer elsewhere either. Jordan posted a double digit sack season at 36 years, proving he can still be productive and disruptive presence on the defensive line despite entering the later stages of his career.

"Obviously, he's meant a lot to this organization for a long time," Saints coach Kellen Moore said Monday, via the Associated Press. "Last year he was a big-time leader for our program. So, obviously, would love to have him."

New Orleans Saints need Cameron Jordan back to keep momentum rolling

There’s growing optimism surrounding the New Orleans Saints heading into the 2026 season after the team finished last year playing some of its best football.  Combined with key roster additions and increased confidence around the organization, New Orleans enters the year believing it can take another step forward and complete at a much higher level.

If Jordan returns, he and Chase Young could finally form the pass-rushing duo many are anticipating to see. Injuries and timing to Young prevented the two from truly sharing the field consistently, but a full season together could give the Saints one of the more dangerous edge combinations in the conference.

Jordan’s value to the Saints goes well beyond sacks and pressures.  His veteran leadership, experience, and locker room presence continue to set the tone for the defense and organization as a whole, making him an important piece both on and off the field. The Saints lost Demario Davis this offseason. Losing Cam would mean losing the two most vocal leaders on the defense, and team, in one offseason.
