The New Orleans Saints hold the ninth overall pick in the upcoming 2025 NFL Draft. That is going to make it difficult for them to land one of the top quarterbacks in this year's draft and it'll be practically impossible for them to nab Miami's Cam Ward, who is projected to go number one.

That's why John Sigler of Saints Wire proposed a trade where the Saints move all the way up to the first pick in the draft to take Ward. Sigler used the Panthers' 2023 trade with the Bears where they moved into the top pick to take Bryce Young as an example here. He had the Saints sending their first, third, and fourth-rounders this year along with next year's first-round pick, 2027's second-round pick, and Chris Olave to Tennessee to swap spots with them in the draft.

It's a lot to give up, especially for a guy who only played at Miami for a year but why not go big and hope that it works out? The Saints would part ways with five total draft picks and Olave but they could potentially have their signal-caller of the future.

Saints trade up to top spot in 2025 draft for Cam Ward in crazy trade proposal

Sigler's big reason for putting this trade proposal together is that Ward has said he'd love to play for the Saints since he grew up rooting for them. A player wanting to come play for the Saints given all of their recent issues is a rarity and New Orleans could use a new signal-caller to fill Derek Carr's spot when that era is officially over.

Ward is far and away the best quarterback prospect in this year's draft so it'd be unusual for the Titans to trade out of that spot considering they need a quarterback. That being said, if the Saints were to offer them this king's ransom of a deal, Tennessee might think otherwise.

Sigler also notes that by doing this trade, Kellen Moore would get some more time to turn things around too. He'd be getting his quarterback for his first year and the Saints would let him see that through until it was obvious that wasn't going to be the right move (though hopefully in this scenario that wouldn't be the case).
