Leading up to the NFL Draft every year, the majority of the talk is about the first round. That’s for good reason, as that’s when the best prospects are usually selected. However, that’s just day one of a three-day event, one round of seven, 32 picks of nearly 300. NFL history has repeatedly shown that great players can be found anywhere.

The New Orleans Saints know that, as they have historically found gems on every day of the draft. With the 2025 Draft approaching, the Saints are hoping to do that again. With the worst cap situation in the league, New Orleans knows the key to improving is putting together a strong draft class. That starts with the team’s No. 9 overall pick and ends in the seventh round.

Much has already been made about what the Saints should do in the early rounds, but not much thought has been given to who the team should be looking for in the late rounds. Bleacher Report’s Alex Ballentine recently filled that void with a piece looking at dream draft targets for all 32 teams. Ballentine gave an ideal first-round selection for the Saints, and also named a prospect New Orleans could have its sights set on during day two (rounds two and three).

Ballentine covered all bases, naming offensive lineman Anthony Belton as the best day-three target for the Saints.

It’s no secret that New Orleans needs offensive line starters, and depth players, so Ballentine lays out how Belton could be somewhat of a project player that could provide both for the Saints at multiple positions.

"Trevor Penning will likely get the first crack at being the right tackle after starting all 17 games last season, but his struggles in pass protection should have the Saints at least looking to add a developmental prospect on Day 3. It's hard not to like Anthony Belton. The 6'6", 336-pounder is a massive tackle who could at least be interesting as a Mekhi Becton-esque guard if tackle doesn't work out."

That certainly sounds like an intriguing player for New Orleans to add. The former NC State lineman has great size and possible positional versatility. Every team is looking for a player like that, but especially teams with needs on the offensive line like the New Orleans Saints. If his name is still on the board in the late rounds of the 2025 Draft, it’d make a lot of sense for the Saints to give him a shot.
