Tyrann Mathieu says what everyone is thinking about the Saints
After 10 weeks of action, the New Orleans Saints are 3-7 and things, as you can imagine, aren't going well for the black and gold.
Following their 20-10 loss to the then-two-win Pittsburgh Steelers, first-year Saint Tyrann Mathieu spoke to the media. During his press conference, he said exactly what Saints fans and outsiders were thinking about this team.
Tyrann Mathieu says the Saints aren't playing well.
The Honey Badger isn't wrong with his comments. The Saints are arguably one of the worst teams in the league right now and it doesn't feel like things are going to get better this year. They're beat up, have no quarterback, and the defense is a shell of itself.
Mathieu was one of the big additions to this team in the offseason and he's been disappointing, to say the least. He has the team's only two interceptions but otherwise, he hasn't been the kind of player New Orleans was hoping for when they signed him in free agency.
Mathieu obviously isn't the only one to blame for this poor showing by the Saints. Injuries are a problem, yes, but as we saw on Sunday, penalties have been the real killer. They were penalized 10 times against the Steelers and teams should not be making those kind of mistakes 10 weeks into the season. That's on Dennis Allen.
Alvin Kamara spoke to the team a few weeks ago after their embarrassing loss to the Cardinals on Thursday Night Football and told them they weren't playing "Saints football". We saw them respond with a shutout win over the Raiders but ever since they've reverted back to a bad football team.
It's good that Mathieu and the team recognizes they aren't playing well but now can they actually do something about it?
