Top 5 remaining needs for the Saints following the first wave of free agency

The New Orleans Saints were fairly quiet during the first wave of free agency, so there are still lots of positions that need to be filled.

Offensive line

Similar to the defensive line, the offensive line was a position that we knew was a big need going into free agency. Thus far, the only news surrounding it has been that Andrus Peat wasn’t getting extended. This is a place where if New Orleans doesn’t pick someone up in free agency, then it becomes necessary to find someone in the draft.

They can’t bank on the improvement of players such as Trevor Penning. You can hope that they develop but that has been the hope the last couple of seasons. Eventually, the team must decide its time to bring in someone in the case that the younger players like Penning aren’t developing.

The Saints reworked Ryan Ramczyk’s deal to guarantee him $6.5 million in 2024 with multiple incentives. This is a great deal for the Saints, as it gives them more money to spend. With this deal, they can afford to bring in some talent at the offensive line. Although it’s not the first wave, there is still plenty of talent still available.

One of the most enticing options could be veteran guard, Kevin Zeitler. If the Saints can bring him in then he would provide veteran leadership and be an answer at the guard position where the Saints need help. If they bring in someone on Zeitler’s level and Trevor Penning continues to develop then the Saints line could be a solid group. Still, it needs to be answered this offseason.
