Bennett to Saints, Reason No. 3: Athleticism can help

One thing we have learned as of late in the NFL is how much athleticism can help at the quarterback position. As good as Tom Brady and Peyton Manning were, the new NFL quarterback has to be able to not only move in the pocket but also have the threat to run when needed.

Take Patrick Mahomes for example. No one is going to confuse him with Mike Vick but when defenses get after him, he's very good at escaping the rush and finding the open player. He's even better at taking off and picking up the necessary yardage when the defense takes the pass away. He did this time and again when the Chiefs defeated the Eagles in this Super Bowl.

That's an area where Stetson Bennett can also thrive. The Bulldog quarterback put up an impressive 4.69 in the 40-yard dash at the 2023 NFL Combine. He wasn't one of the top times since not every quarterback ran but he held his own against some of the "mobile" gun-slingers in the class.

He then went on to score a 4.20 in the 20-yard shuttle, which was ahead of athletic players such as Max Duggan and Dorian Thompson-Robinson.

None of this guarantees he will be a success in the NFL but it always helps to have something else to make the defense worry about.
